Furman students join APEC’s Voices of the Future

Each year Furman University’s Riley Institute sends a student delegation to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. APEC, a conglomeration of 21 member economies, aims to promote sustainable economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Two members of the Furman team, seniors Gray Johnson (political science) of Aiken and Mallary Taylor (political science and psychology) of Greenville, wrote an op-ed for The Greenville News about their experience at the meeting held last November in Manila. Reflecting on the trip, which took place amid the terror attacks in Paris, Johnson and Taylor write, “Diversity in all its forms … proved to be the element that truly allowed us to learn, engage and connect …”
