A record 235 prospective students and their families will be on campus this weekend for Fall for Furman.

The event, a chance for the Admission staff and university faculty to showcase the campus, includes a campus tour, an address by President Smolla, and academic and activities fairs.

“Last year, we had 170 students, so it is way up,” says Shannon Knutti, who is coordinating Fall for Furman. “We have two new admission counselors. And we are visiting more schools.  I think that has something to do with it.”

Though most of the students attending Fall for Furman are from the Carolinas, families from as far away as Utah, Washington and Maine will be here. Knutti says most of the student attendees are high school seniors who have narrowed their college choice to two or three schools.

Activities — most of them centered in the University Center and Dining Hall areas — will begin at 9 a.m. and conclude shortly after 2 p.m.  If you see folks participating, give them a big Furman Welcome!
