Saving baby Jordan

Nancy ’02 and Shelvis Smith-Mather ’02 were doing peace-building ministry work in South Sudan late last year when the couple’s first child was born seven weeks early. In a rural and conflict-filled area with no modern medical facility, the Smiths and their colleagues worked frantically to have the child, Jordan, air-lifted from the area and ultimately back to the United States.  A CNN interview, “Saving Baby Jordan,” was aired Friday and recounts their experience.  Shelvis, a former Paladin football player, and Nancy, a past member of the women’s soccer team, are now back in South Sudan.
