The lakeside concerts are free and open to the public.

GREENVILLE, S.C.—Furman University’s Music by the Lake Summer Concert Series, one of the area’s most popular attractions, is currently underway and will take place weekly through the first week of August.

Concerts begin each Thursday at 7:30 p.m., and are free and open to the public.  The June 7 and July 19 performances include pre-concerts at 7 p.m.

All concerts will be held in the Furman amphitheater by the lake except for the June 21 “Rhapsody in Blue” concert, which will take place in McAlister Auditorium. Those attending the outdoor events may bring picnic baskets, lawn chairs, beach towels and leashed animals. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed.

Each Thursday during the series, a picnic basket filled with goodies will be given away.

Ensembles and bands performing this summer include the Carolina Youth Symphony, nief-norf percussion ensemble, Spartanburg Jazz Ensemble, Greenville Chorale, Asheville Jazz Orchestra, Greenville Jazz Collective, Andy Carlson Band, Suzuki Institute Fiddlers, and a soloist from the U.S. Army Field Band. The Lakeside Concert Band will perform at six of the concerts.

The concerts are made possible by Furman and are sponsored by the Bank of Travelers Rest, George Coleman Ford (Travelers Rest), Publix Super Markets Charities, The Woodlands at Furman, The Greenville News and greenvilleonline.com.
