Homecoming: it’s a wrap

The weather cooperated and so did Samford as Furman celebrated a memorable homecoming weekend under sparkling skies.

In a big win, the football team bested Samford 35-17 to move to 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the Southern Conference. Also on Saturday, the men’s soccer team  put away Davidson 1-0 and the volleyball team defeated Elon 3-1.

The Spirit Aaward went to Pi Kappa Phi and Delta Gamma. Sigma Nu and Delta Delta Delta blew the judges away with their T-shirt designs, but Kappa Alpha and Alpha Delta Pi came back to win the chalking contest.

The Spirit Week banner award went to Pi Kappa Phi and Delta Gamma, with Sigma Chi, Kappa Delta, and Alpha Kappa Alpha awarded with the most entertaining Horseplay Skits.

The Homecoming float award went to Sigma Nu and Delta Delta Delta.

Third place overall for Homecoming went to Sigma Chi, Kappa Delta, and Alpha Kappa Alpha. Second place overall went to Sigma Nu and Delta Delta Delta

And finally, the overall winner of Homecoming Spirit Week 2013 was Pi Kappa Phi and Delta Gamma.

Matthew Morris was crowned Homecoming King and Meg Austin crowned Homecoming Queen. Daniel Hoilet was also named the winner of FUSAB’S Havoc Competition.
