GREENVILLE, S.C.—The Furman University Singers and Men’s and Women’s Chorales will present their fall concert Thursday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. in Daniel Chapel.

The concert is free and open to the public.

The program includes contemporary settings of ancient texts, including Ola Gjeilo’s “Ubi Caritas” and “Salmo 150” by the Brazilian composer Ernani Aguiar.  The concert also celebrates both secular and sacred choral music from England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, Belgium and Italy.

Organ professor Charles Tompkins will perform “Toccata pour Grand Orgue” by Joseph Jongen. To close the evening, the choirs will combine for “The Promise of Living,” the finale from Aaron Copland’s American opera “The Tender Land.”

The Furman Singers are under the direction of Hugh Floyd.  Vivian Hamilton will conduct the Men’s and Women’s Chorales.
