Professor Julian Reed’s research finds link between physical fitness and ability to learn

Julian Reed, a health sciences professor at Furman, has been conducting an ongoing study at Charter Legacy School in Greenville that examines whether there is a link between physical fitness and the ability to learn. What he has discovered was worthy of a front-page story in The Greenville News.
“At a time when physical education is being trimmed back because of budget cuts, and state and federal governments are placing greater demands for academic performance, Reed believes his year-long study demonstrates that regular exercise should be a vital part of the curriculum,” the article states.
