The Furman Faculty Chamber Music Series will present a concert Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on campus. A reception follows the recital.

The event is open to the public, and is part of Furman’s Sound Quality Concert Series. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students/youth.

Hosted by Furman music professor Laura Kennedy, Ph.D., the 90-minute concert features members of the Furman music faculty who will present a diverse array of older and newer repertoire for chamber ensemble. The program includes a playful duo for cello and bass by Gioachino Rossini, Felix Mendelssohn’s dramatic Piano Trio in C minor, and jazz tunes by John Scofield and Leonard Bernstein. Faculty performing include:

Ian Bracchitta, double bass
Rick Dilling, drums (guest faculty from Appalachian State University, Hayes School of Music)
Tim Easter, double bass
David Gross, piano
Christopher Hutton, violoncello
Dierdre Hutton, violin
Steve Watson, guitar

Dr. Kennedy joined the Furman faculty in 2012. She is a musicologist specializing in 20th century music and Russian studies. Kennedy holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Wheaton and a Ph.D. in historical musicology from the University of Michigan.
