Furman University will host a Debate Watch on campus Wednesday night in conjunction with the Republican presidential debate taking place in Colorado. The watch, which begins at 8 p.m. in Patrick Lecture Hall of the Townes Science Center, will be moderated by Furman professor Brandon Inabinet.

The event is CLP.  Interested students are encouraged to arrive early.

Furman students will watch the Oct. 28 debate without advertising or pundits’ analysis.  Before the debate, Dr. Inabinet will discuss what constitutes strong argumentation (evidence, warrants, claims) and typical fallacies (against relevance, clarity, consistency, openness to further debate, etc.) during debates.

After the debate, students will be polled using iClickers on which candidates performed best on a series of topics (energy, economy, environment, war and domestic social policies).

For more information, contact Dr. Inabinet at 864-294-3058 and brandon.inabinet@furman.edu.
