South Carolina poet Meyers presents reading Nov. 3

Susan Laughter Meyers, a poet from Givhans, S.C., will present a poetry reading Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. in Furman Hall 214 (McEachern Lecture Hall) on the Furman University campus.

The reading is free and open to the public and is sponsored by Furman’s Department of English. The event is part of Furman’s Cultural Life Program.

Meyers is the author of two full poetry collections: My Dear, Dear Stagger Grass (Editors’ Prize, Cider Press Review, 2013) and Keep and Give Away (SC Poetry Book Prize, University of South Carolina Press, 2006).

Her poetry has also been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including The Southern Review, Crazyhorse, and Prairie Schooner. Awards include fellowships from The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) and the SC Academy of Authors.

A longtime writing instructor, Meyers has a master’s degree in creative writing from Queens University (Charlotte, N.C.).
