Discussing the Confederate flag issue

Furman political science professor Danielle Vinson was quoted in a July 7 New York Times article about the legislative battle to remove the Confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina State House. “This is not going to be a pleasant vote for a lot of people,” Vinson said. “They’re catching heck from their constituents. But I also think there’s enough sentiment, not just in the House and Senate but across the states, to get this done.” The Times story was reprinted in The Boston Globe and other newspapers across the country.
