Singers to perform seven concerts during tour

Furman singers with FloydThe Furman University Singers will be on tour Sunday, March 8 through Tuesday, March 17 performing at local and regional churches, with two closing concerts in Furman’s Daniel Memorial Chapel.

The closing concerts are Monday and Tuesday, March 16 and 17, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Chapel on campus. Tickets for the closing performances are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students. All other tour events are free and open to the public.

The concerts are conducted by Hugh Ferguson Floyd, D.M.A, Furman Music Professor and Director of the Furman Singers. Music Professor and University Organist Charles Tompkins, D.M.A, provides accompaniment, and Furman junior Grace Odell of Pelzer accompanies the Singers on piano.

The 90-voice ensemble continues a tradition of performance nearly 70 years old. The Singers will present new choral music from both the sacred and secular repertoire as well as traditional favorites. The performances are made possible in part by the Nelle and Ken Brown Music Fund.
