The Furman University Pauper Players will present “Shrek The Musical” Friday and Saturday, Feb. 6-7 at 8 p.m., and Sunday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium on campus.

The production is open to the public. General admission tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students/youth. Tickets are available at the door and through Ticketmaster.

The 36-member cast of student-run Furman Pauper Players presents “Shrek The Musical,” based on the award-winning DreamWorks animation film, and adapted from the Broadway production. The musical is a tale of Shrek and his ‘loyal steed,’ Donkey. They embark on a mission to rescue Princess Fiona from a Dragon under Lord Farquaad’s employ. During the journey, the unlikeliest characters fall in love. Add crazy fairytale creatures and a singing gingerbread man, and you have the makings of a great show.

Open to all Furman students, the Furman Pauper Players organization provides motivated students with the opportunity to sharpen skills in leadership, communication, performance, cooperation and responsibility.

Furman sophomore James Douglas of Rome, Ga. directs the musical. Shrek is played by Furman junior Alex Mason (Easley), freshman Bradwin Amos (Columbia) plays Donkey, Fiona is played by senior Cara Langston (Washington, D.C.), and Lord Farquaad is portrayed by sophomore Drew Whitlow (Savannah, Ga.).
