Furman University’s Marching Band, the Paladin Regiment, will present its annual Band Extravaganza concert Friday, Sept. 26 at 8 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium.

The concert, a part of Furman’s Cultural Life Program, is open to the public and is held in conjunction with Family Weekend at the university. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors.

Under the direction of Furman’s Jay Bocook, The Paladin Regiment will present the set list from its 2014 Exhibition Show “Back to the Future.” The theme of the popular 80s film serves as a springboard to explore great rock bands of the late 20th century. The performance includes arrangements of the title sequence to “Back to the Future” by film composer Alan Silvestri, “Kashmir” as performed by Led Zeppelin, and the current smash single, “Bang, Bang” sung by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj.

The Marching Band will also present traditional Furman songs and favorite stand charts “Hey Baby,” “Die Young,” and other classic charts from their repertoire including “Firebird Fanfare,” “Cadillac of the Skies,” and “Carolina in the Morning.”

Led by Drum Majors Hannah Carlson and Graham McBride, The Paladin Regiment will also showcase The Furman Dance Company, which will perform choreography to “You Can Call Me Al” by Paul Simon, “Land of a Thousand Dances” made famous by Wilson Pickett, and “Jungle Boogie” by Kool and the Gang.

The Paladin Regiment is one of six major ensembles in the Furman Band program.  Consisting of 115 members, the band performs at all home games, selected away games, and high school marching band festivals.
