Outreach concert series set for The Woodlands@Furman

The Furman University Music Department and Partners in the Arts has announced a new community engagement and outreach initiative for The Woodlands@Furman retirement community.

First Fridays @ The Woodlands is an engaging and free concert series for residents of The Woodlands@Furman and the general public. The series opens Friday, Sept. 5 at 4 p.m. in the Camellia Room, The Woodlands@Furman.

First Fridays @ The Woodlands features Furman Music Department faculty and students performing and discussing the works to be presented. The concerts are slated for the first Fridays of Sept.-Nov. and Feb.-April.

Says Dr. Anna Joiner, Program Coordinator for Furman Partners in the Arts | Community Outreach, “The Music faculty and students are excited about the opportunities to perform and engage with the residents at The Woodlands. This is the beginning of a rewarding partnership.”

Sept. 5, 2014, 4 p.m. – Furman Music Faculty
Oct. 3, 2104, 4 p.m. – Furman Piano Students
Nov. 7, 2014, 4 p.m. – Furman Percussion Ensemble
Feb. 6, 2015, 4 p.m. – Student Chamber Ensembles
March 6, 2015, 4 p.m. – Furman Piano for Young People Program
April 3, 2015, 4 p.m. – Student and Faculty Performers
