Using music to teach the lessons of life

adam-scheuchFurman graduate Adam Scheuch is band director at Mauldin High School. And on Aug. 14, he learned he had been named Greenville County Schools’ Teacher of the Year for 2014-15. Scheuch said he sees himself as a life coach, and he uses music to instill qualities like leadership and teamwork as he helps his students grow to become the best they can be. A National Board Certified teacher, Scheuch graduated from Furman in 1998 with a bachelor’s of music in instrumental education before earning a master’s in music education from from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago.
