Furman Wind Ensemble to present concert Feb. 25

The Furman Wind Ensemble will present a concert Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium on the Furman University campus.
Conducted by Furman Music Professor Leslie W. Hicken, the program is part of Furman Music Department’s Sound Quality Series, and is a Cultural Life Program event. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students.
The program consists of the following repertoire:
“Two Lane Blacktop” (2013) – James M. David, a Consortium Premier Performance
“Sacred Harp” (2011) – Jay Bocook, with Jay Bocook, M.M.E., guest conductor and Director of Furman Athletic Bands
“Concerto for Saxophone” (2013) – Frank Ticheli, a Consortium Premier Performance, with Dr. Matt Olson, Ph.D., saxophone soloist and Furman Music Professor
“Waltz from Masquerade” (1941) – Aram Khachaturian/Hicken
“The Promise of Living” (1954) – Aaron Copland/Singleton
“Barbed Wire Philosophies” (2011) – Brett William Dietz
The Wind Ensemble will also present this program at the College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference on Thursday, Feb. 27 on the University of North Florida campus, Jacksonville, Fla.
