It has been 27 years since he left the South Carolina Governor’s office and 13 years since he was U.S. Secretary of Education. But in his usual quiet way, Gov. Richard W. Riley is still having a huge impact on South Carolina, America and the future. Phil Noble, president of the SC New Democrats, praised the work of Riley, a 1954 Furman graduate, in an op-ed for the Cheraw Chronicle.
