The 2012 Washington Monthly College Guide and Rankings asks not what colleges can do for you, but what colleges are doing for the country. The schools were selected based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research and service. Furman ranked No. 99 among the 254 liberal arts colleges listed.
