Alum Nikki Pressley a rising artist in California

The editors at California Home + Design asked the top art curators in the state to help them pick the 10 California artists who are on the rise.  Nikki Pressley, a native of Greenville who graduated from Furman in 2004 with a degree in art, was one of the 10 artists selected.

The article states that Pressley “naturally integrates typography into her art, which explores the history, memory and language of her cultural surroundings. The Los Angeles resident’s piece for the 2010 California Biennial, Word, is a double-sided work on paper that embodies the plights of West African slaves who were brought to South Carolina centuries ago.”
