Optional dinner with POP staff at 6 p.m. Dinner at a local restaurant in Downtown Greenville. Cost of student dinners will be covered. If families accompany their student, the cost of dinner is the responsibility of the family. Please call Owen McFadden at 864.294.2414 before August 10 if you wish to attend.

Day 1, August 17th

8:30 am-2:30 pm Check-in (North Village Building J). You are responsible for your own lunch.
3 pm Meet and mingle–Dining Hall steps
5 pm Dinner at Younts Center
8 pm Return to Furman

Day 2, August 18th

7 am Breakfast at Furman
9:30 am Load equipment on van (in front of library) and drive to Blue Ridge Parkway
12 pm Lunch
1:30 pm Backpacking trip
7 pm Camp Set-Up
8 pm Dinner

Day 3, August 19th

9 am Continue backpacking trip
12 pm Lunch
4:30 pm Return to vans
6 pm Arrive at Furman
7 pm Dinner in Downtown Greenville
9 pm Return to Furman

What to Bring Backpacking

  • hiking boots or well broken in tennis shoes that provide support
  • at least one sturdy water bottle or camelback (a must)
  • shirts and shorts that can dry quickly (no cotton)
  • several pairs of hiking socks (no cotton)
  • rain gear
  • bathing suit
  • camera
  • sleeping bag
  • sunscreen
  • a hat (optional)
  • sunglasses (optional)
