REGARDLESS of funding agency requirements, the Furman IRB requires that ALL Furman researchers involved in \u201chuman subjects\u201d research must complete the CITI Human Subjects Research Educational Program. To do so, please visit the CITI website at:\u00a0www.citiprogram.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

When you get to the webpage, click on the register link at the top of the right of the page. Under the “select your organization affiliation” enter Furman University.\u00a0Then\u00a0use your legal name and your Furman email address to register.\u00a0If you have an account through another institution, you may re-affiliate with Furman and any courses that you have completed will transfer to Furman\u2019s records.<\/p>\n

The IRB will not process an application until the CITI program has been completed by the Principal Investigator, student researchers, Faculty Advisor, and appropriate Chair or Administrative Division Head. CITI will send the IRB Administrator notice of your completion.\u00a0\u00a0 You should print out and save a copy of your completion certificate to be submitted with your application and kept for your own files. To maintain certification, this course is required to be renewed every four years.<\/p>\n

Furman offers three distinct research compliance courses through CITI. \u00a0The Human Subjects Protections curriculum choices are presented in Question 1 when you are selecting your curriculum.<\/p>\n
