And how can we tell those stories? Surprisingly, nineteenth-century medicine, culture, and literature had theories about that. This CLP explores nineteenth-century narratives of mental pain in connection with our contemporary cultural moment.<\/p>\n<div><strong>Dr. Gretchen Braun<\/strong>, Professor of English at Furman, received her PhD from the University of California at Davis.
