Here are some tips I hope you find helpful when thinking about the college application essay.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Choose a topic that helps us get to know you<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>We only know you from your application so pick an essay topic that shows us who you are. Whether it\u2019s a story, an experience you went through, goals you have, or something you are passionate about, use this as an opportunity to make your application as individualized as possible. We want to hear your unique voice and learn about what matters to you.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Take your time and start early<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Calling all procrastinators! This is not the time to say \u201cI\u2019ll do that later\u201d or \u201cIt won\u2019t take me too long\u201d or \u201cI work well under pressure\u201d.\u00a0 When we are reading these essays, it is noticeable when a student has worked hard to submit their best work and when they haven\u2019t. Give yourself as much time as you need to make this essay something you\u2019re proud to show off! \u00a0\u00a0Trust me, you\u2019ll thank yourself later when you are not submitting these essays at 11:59pm the night before the deadline feeling just \u201cokay\u201d about your work.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>If it\u2019s college specific, be specific<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>When a college or university adds a supplemental essay along the lines of \u201cwhat made you pick our school?\u201d, it\u2019s always best to be as specific as you can.\u00a0 Write about the time you visited, who you spoke with, what really stood out to you, etc.\u00a0 This is not the type of essay where you should click \u201ccopy\u201d and \u201cpaste\u201d. It will go a long way when the person reading your essay sees that you have genuine interest in their specific school.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Proof read!<\/strong><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Proof read! Proof read! Proof read! And have someone else proof read!
