Hey y\u2019all!! This week at Furman University, the dining hall has been full of delicious international dishes as part of our International Education Week.<\/a> This is a time when we get to explore and appreciate cultures from around the world in an exciting way! (because who doesn\u2019t love a little feast, right??) It’s a great way to break from the stress of schoolwork and enjoy some new food and experiences with friends.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flavors from Around the World<\/span><\/h2>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

One of the best parts of International Education Week is the chance to try new foods from different cultures. This week, I got to taste a variety of dishes I had never tried before. One of my favorites was pierogies<\/a>, a soft dumpling filled with either savory or sweet fillings. The ones I tried had a delicious potato and cheese filling that melted in my mouth. I also had the chance to try edamame dumplings, and an English meal of bread and sausage, which was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by all of these dishes and wish we had them all the time!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the food, there are lots of fun activities across campus to celebrate International Education Week, which you can read about here<\/a>. It\u2019s a great way to learn more about different parts of the world and connect with other students. \"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

A Thanksgiving Feast<\/span><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

While International Education Week has been a fun chance to try new international foods, the week is also special because it kicks off the start of Thanksgiving celebrations on campus. The week before Thanksgiving break, the dining hall provides a big Thanksgiving feast for students to enjoy before heading home for the holiday. This year\u2019s Thanksgiving spread included all the classics: turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, corn bread, and pumpkin pie. It was the perfect way to celebrate with friends and enjoy a traditional holiday meal together.<\/span><\/p>\n

For me, this year\u2019s Thanksgiving feast felt so special because it made me feel at home! I loved getting to share it with my friends as part of a Friendsgiving celebration too. It was the perfect way to take a break from schoolwork, relax, and appreciate all the things I am thankful for. As the semester gets busier and exams start to approach and work builds up, having moments like these, surrounded by good food and great friends, makes all the hard work feel a little easier.\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

A Perfect Blend of Tradition<\/span><\/h2>\n

The combination of international food and a Thanksgiving feast is such a fun way to learn and have some fun on campus. It\u2019s a time to try new foods, learn about different cultures, and also celebrate the traditions that remind us of home. Whether you\u2019re enjoying international dishes, participating in campus events, or sharing a Thanksgiving meal with friends, this week is a perfect reminder to appreciate both the diversity and warmth of our campus!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
