Fall at Furman

Fall at Furman!

One of my favorite seasons at Furman is fall. The cool air and the changing colors of the trees make for a beautiful campus. But, beyond the on-campus festivities, Greenville was rated the #1 fall destination by Well and Good! And, with so many fall activities right here on campus and beyond Furman’s gate, a Furman fall is truly like no other!

Fall for Greenville

Another Furman Fall favorite is attending Fall for Greenville. This is a festival that goes on in Downtown Greenville, only a 15 minute drive from Furman’s Campus. This festival lasts a whole weekend in October when Greenville decks its Main Street out with music artists and carnival rides. The absolute best part of Fall for Greenville is the food! And, with Greenville being one of the top three foodie destinations in the nation, you can expect some tasty eats! Over 50 restaurants and food vendors from Upstate South Carolina will serve their classics along with some special treats right in the heart of Downtown Greenville!

Football Season

At the kickoff of fall semester, begins arguably one of the most important seasons — football! Whether you’re an athlete, avid sports fan, or just enjoy socializing, Furman football games are great way to meet people and cheer on the Dins at Paladin Stadium. My personal favorite part of football season is tailgating! All of Furman’s Greek and non-Greek organizations set up tents right outside the stadium where students can bring food, socialize, and watch our Dins score the touchdown! If you would rather watch the game from inside the stadium and get some of that yummy stadium food (fried Oreos are my fav!), tickets to the game are included in tuition for all students. All you have to do is show your Furman ID!

Skytop Orchard

When wanting to get a little further from campus, Skytop Apple Orchard is the perfect day-trip destination. Located only about hour away in Flat Rock, North Carolina, the orchard is the perfect place to go apple picking with friends or chow down on their famous apple cider donuts!

Spooky Season

And of course, no fall semester at college is complete without spooky season activities. This Halloweekend on Furman’s campus, many organizations hosted functions and events open to the whole student body. Many Greek Organizations hosted open events at off and on-campus venues, and our Students Activity Board (FUSAB) put on a haunted trail around the Furman Lake right here on-campus — the perfect end to the Halloween season!

As spooky season comes to a close and the weather becomes cooler, Furman and the Greenville area wrap up the fall festivities as we see what is in store for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season — never a dull moment here at Furman!
