Good Restaurants or Bust!

I don’t know about y’all, but one factor I found to have great importance in the college decision process is the city in which the college or university resides. Now yes the city or town itself is important, but when I say city I guess what I am really meaning is the proximity in which the school is to GOOD restaurants.

When I toured Furman, one of the first things I fell in love with was the downtown streets of Greenville, specifically one spot on those streets that served the BEST avocado toast I’ve ever had…. Happy + Hale. This was the first restaurant I went to in GVL and I have been begging my friends to go back ever since. Happy + Hale serves incredible grain or salad bowls, smoothies, juices, acai bowls, and of course avocado toast!

Another restaurant that made my decision to attend Furman easier was Papi’s Tacos! Not only does this mexican restaurant remind me of one of my favorite little spots back home, but they have the BEST Taco Tuesday deal!! I mean come on, who can say no to $2 tacos !!!??? But if tacos aren’t your thing, they have enchiladas, quesadillas, and some pretty amazing chips and dips!

To close out your restaurant tour of main street downtown, of course you need to get dessert! A classic ice cream place is Spill the Beans and I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to go all four years at Furman without going there. But, if you’re like me and like more unique flavors or a little less popular places, Luna Rosa is the place for you!! This adorable gelato place has TONS of interesting options, even for the vegans! My recommendation the vegan lime and the vegan black chocolate (sounds odd but just trust me on this one)!!

And finally, for those of you looking to venture off the main street downtown, I have found the best pizza place that’s one 20 mins away from campus. Coastal Crust is on the cutest little street, filled with local boutiques and plant shops, kinda in the middle of nowhere. It takes a real local to stumble across these shops and restaurants, but BOY they do not disappoint. I recommend the Fig & Prosciutto pizza ( becasue im a vegetarian I got mine without meat but I’m sure it would be just as good with it!)

So there you have it, a list of the reasons why I chose Furman! Just kiddinggggg, but seriously the city, the atmosphere, and the FOOD surrounding Furman is one of a kind, and helped me know I would never go hungry and would be so happy here at Furman! So if you ever need a dinner date, I’m your girl – Rosemary Cruse
