{"id":154,"date":"2019-10-09T15:16:11","date_gmt":"2019-10-09T15:16:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/academics\/tocqueville-program\/?post_type=furman-event&#038;p=154"},"modified":"2019-10-21T12:51:12","modified_gmt":"2019-10-21T12:51:12","slug":"panayiotis-kanelos-this-thing-of-darkness-i-acknowledge-mine-a-shakespearean-education-2019-10-29","status":"publish","type":"furman-event","link":"","title":{"rendered":"Panayiotis Kanelos, \u201c\u2019This thing of darkness I acknowledge mine.\u2019 A Shakespearean Education for Liberty\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Panayiotis (Pano) Kanelos is President of St. John\u2019s College, Annapolis.\u00a0 He previously served as Dean of the Honors College at Valparaiso University, during which time he also oversaw the administration and finances of the Lilly Fellows Program in Humanities and the Arts, a network of 100 colleges and universities that advances liberal arts education through conferences, workshops, publications, and fellowships.\u00a0 Kanelos began his academic career at Loyola University Chicago, where he was a core faculty member of the honors program, an associate professor in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, and the founding director of the Interdisciplinary Shakespeare Studies Program.
