Furman University’s sociology program combines theory, research, and hands-on learning to give students a well-rounded experience.\u00a0 Students also have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty on research projects, explore contemporary topics during MayX, or study abroad with our faculty to apply their sociological lens to a new context.\u00a0 Supported by accomplished scholars with a strong record of research and teaching, the program emphasizes critical thinking and broad-ranging perspectives while preparing students for meaningful academic and professional paths.<\/em><\/p>\n

Engaged Learning Experience (ELE) Requirement<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Major Requirements<\/strong><\/h3>\n

To graduate with a major in sociology, a student must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 for all sociology courses.<\/p>\n
