But at Furman, you&#8217;ll get to see those theories put in practice. That&#8217;s because we don&#8217;t have graduate students in our department. Our faculty rely on undergraduates, including freshmen, to initiate and conduct laboratory research.<\/p>\n<p>Our professors serve as mentors and work as collaborative partners. Instead of cleaning mirrors or making coffee runs for the lab, you\u2019ll be actively engaged in a research project. You might even get published in a scientific journal, or present your paper at a national conference.<\/p>\n<p>Right now we&#8217;re studying the evolution of variable stars and supernova remnants, investigating how lasers can be used in bio-medical research, developing\u00a0drone packages\u00a0to map out land features\u00a0in visible and infrared,\u00a0and exploring the fundamental\u00a0theories of space-time physics. You can be a part of it.
