Furman Singers go on tour to Texas
The Furman Singers headed to Texas for their Spring Tour March 3-8, 2023. Conducted by Dr. Stephen Gusukuma and accompanied by Hailey Anthum Hunter (’10) and Dr. Charles Tompkins, the Singers held evening concerts at Trinity Baptist Church (San Antonio) and First United Methodist Church, Dallas, where they were hosted by Furman alumni Dana and Tim Effler (both ’86). In addition, the Singers performed for public school audiences in Frisco, The Woodlands, and Porter, Texas. At Porter High School they were hosted by alumna Cara Cavenaugh Woodward (’11). Additional highlights of the tour included a day exploring the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Buc-ee’s stops, and a final night of tour at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.

The Singers followed their tour with Home Concerts in Daniel Chapel on March 23 & 26 where they launched the campaign for the Hugh F. Floyd Furman Singers Endowed Scholarship in honor of Hugh Floyd’s tenure as conductor of the Furman Singers from 2010-2022.
