Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth?
Furman University’s Education Department acknowledges that our nation and communities face critical challenges and need caring, innovative, and skilled educators to be part of the solution. Furman offers many options for students who wish to work with children and youth. Our Teacher Residency Program prepares majors for certifications in the early childhood and elementary grades. The Master of Arts in Teaching provides certification to teach at the high school level. Additionally, the Educational Studies major is offered for those who wish to seek careers in settings other than the classroom.
The Office of Graduate Studies also offers additional certification and graduate degree options in literacy, special education, teaching English to second language learners, and school and district level leadership.
