Although various roles in businesses are most common, economics majors are successful in law, medicine, government, non-profits, and international relations, as well as in academic roles.\u201d\u00a0 Given that economics majors are well-suited for many different professions, internships provide students with an opportunity to explore different potential career paths.\u00a0 In addition to providing insight into different jobs, internships are also a great way for students to develop their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naceweb.org\/career-readiness\/competencies\/career-readiness-defined\/\">career competencies<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Many of our economics students find internship opportunities through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/internships\/\">Furman Internships office<\/a>, through opportunities sponsored by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/career-services\/\">Furman Malone Center for Career Engagement<\/a>, through economics alumni, through their own networks, or through independent searches. Our economics department faculty work with each student to introduce them to the variety of resources available and help them navigate the internship search and reflect on their internship experience.<\/p>\n<p>Internships may also be done for course credit through ECN-503 (Individualized Internship) or through an internship as a part of a Furman study away program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Internships As noted by the American Economic Association, \u201cEconomics majors are successful in a wide variety of careers.
