Our student advisory board is a select group of juniors and seniors who work with the faculty on programming, make suggestions about curriculum, and celebrate student achievements.<\/p>\n<h3>Lambda Pi Eta<\/h3>\n<p>Furman is home to the Nu Theta Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national honor society in communication studies. Students are selected for membership based on coursework, grade point average, and commitment to the academic field of study.<\/p>\n<h3>Furman University News Channel (FUNC)<\/h3>\n<p>FUNC is a television club that presents a weekly campus newscast. As a student, you can be engaged in all phases of the television broadcast, from research to anchoring. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/academics\/communication-studies\/contact\/\">Contact us<\/a> for information on joining the club.<\/p>\n<h3>The Media Corps<\/h3>\n<p>Our media lab often received requests for freelance work from around the community. Students can join our media corps and work directly with clients to produce video projects ready to be aired on television or online. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/academics\/communication-studies\/contact\/\">Contact us<\/a> for information on getting involved.<\/p>\n<h3>Furman University Debate Team<\/h3>\n<p>Our debate team is an active student group jointly organized under the Communication Studies department and the student government. We offer a forum for students to engage in both friendly and competitive intellectual debate in weekly meetings, campus cultural life programs, and intercollegiate debate tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>We encourage all levels of participation, whether your interest is competitive debate, public speaking, or just discussing the issues of the day over coffee. We do not expect students to have any previous experience in speech or debate, only an eagerness to learn and a willingness to consider new perspectives on controversial issues.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students have a number of ways to get involved in the communication studies department.
