Your first semester as a WML Consultant will be dedicated to on-boarding and on-the-job training, in addition to group training meetings with other new trainees. First-year students may not apply until after they have completed at least one full semester at Furman (exceptions may be made for transfer students; email <a href=\"mailto:wml@furman.edu\">wml@furman.edu<\/a> with questions).<\/p>\n<p>The application form will ask you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why you want to be a Consultant<\/li>\n<li>To describe a time you either taught someone a new skill or learned a new skill yourself<\/li>\n<li>To provide the name of a faculty reference (it&#8217;s polite to let them know you will be listing them as a reference, so that they are not surprised to hear from us!)<\/li>\n<li>To provide a writing sample<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The deadline to apply to for <strong>Fall 2026 is May 9, 2026<\/strong><strong>.<\/strong> If you want to apply but cannot meet that deadline, please email <a href=\"mailto:jean.schwab@furman.edu\">jean.schwab@furman.edu<\/a>!
