How To Grab an Image Off the Web

  1. When you find an image you would like to save, place your cursor over the image until the cursor changes to the shape of a hand.
  2. Click and hold down the RIGHT mouse button until a pop-up menu appears.

  3. Drag the cursor down to "Save Image As" and then release the mouse button.
  4. A dialogue box that looks like this will open:

  5. In the bottom right-hand corner is the "Drives" window. Select the drive you want to save your file on by clicking on the down arrow to the left of the white box. This will reveal all the drives available to you. If you are saving to a floppy disk, select "A".
  6. Under File Name, you can either accept the name of the file that appears automatically or rename it by typing in the box.
  7. In the window "Save File as Type," take note of the file format (the three-letter file extension; .jpg, for example). Your file will be saved in this format. Do not change it! (If you later wish to change the format of an image, you must use a graphics conversion program such as PaintShop Pro or LView Pro.)
  8. In the "Directories" window, select the directory into which you want to save the file. To select a directory, double-click on it and the name of the directory will appear below the word "Directories." This is the PATH to your file and indicates where it is stored. You will need to return to this directory whenever you want to recover the file to use it, so remember where you put it!
  9. When everything is set to your satisfaction, click on "OK" in the upper-right hand corner. Voilą! Your file is saved.
