Software in Spanish:
1) Pronunciation Tutor: If you want to improve your pronunciation you can practice vowels, consonants, intonation patterns, the alphabet, numbers, telling time, etc. You can listen to a native speaker model and then record yourself. To use it you can ask the lab assistant for the Spanish Pronunciation Tutor CD-ROM, and he/she will assist you.
Reading a Spanish Newspaper:
If you want to know what news are Spaniards reading about, there is nothing better than having access to their newspapers! One of the most important Spanish newspapers is EL PAIS ( http://www.elpais.es) and you can read it in the internet. I have chosen different newspapers from Spain that you can look at in the lab. La Vanguardia is published in Barcelona and El País in Madrid, they are both in Spanish. Avui is in Catalan and EuskaldunonEgunkaria is in Basque. The activities that you are going to work on this term are going to be in El País.
This is an interesting and fun way of practicing and learning new vocabulary. If you read the headlines using what you know and identifying cognates, you will be surprised how much you can understand. It is also a way of being in contact outside the classroom with the reality of the language you are learning.
