The Study sheet will give you a rough idea about some of the main things you need to know about each religious tradition we will be encountering. Familiarity with the items listed below will enable you to pass the reading tests with a satisfactory grade; more detailed knowledge will be necessary to achieve an excellent grade.)
 

A)    Armstrong (focus particularly on early history, religious practice and theology. Pay special attention to Islam, since the other two books already introduced aspects of Judaism and Christianity)

• Discuss some of the similarities that exist between the three Abrahamic religious traditions (with a special emphasis on belief / religious practice / sacred writings /
• Discuss the early development of Islam from the 7^th to the 10^th century.
• Discuss Jewish attitudes toward non-Jews.
• Discuss Muslim attitudes toward non-Muslims.
• Discuss some of the religious responses of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam to the Enlightenment.
• Compare and contrast Jewish, Christian, and Muslim understandings of Mysticism.
