Donations

At Furman, we are exploring the concept of sustainability in theory and practice. It is a way of living and learning that is being practiced right now, a hands-on education that will equip the next generation of leaders. It is an approach to stewardship and service that influences every decision.

Your generous donation to the Center for Sustainability allows us to continue to expand the engaged learning, service and research opportunities for our students. There are numerous ways your donation can be applied - in ways that most fit your own values and interests.

Center for Sustainability - Supports the ongoing development of a broad array of campus and community sustainability programs and research projects.

Sustainability Student Initiatives - Supports a wide variety of student efforts including the Conserve Furman initiative (an initiative by students in the Harry B. Shucker Leadership program) and Sustainable Connections (a student umbrella network supporting and promoting the various sustainability efforts and activities of diverse student groups related to sustainability). The student initiative funds support student efforts and service projects that are not designated in other Furman funding sources.

Community Outreach and Research - Supports service learning and outreach projects in the Greater Greenville community. Projects include residential and commercial energy audits, recycling tips and other on-going projects.

Organic Garden - Supports on-going costs of managing and maintaining the Furman Organic Garden and expanding outreach opportunities throughout the greater community. Projects include a weekly summertime Furman Farm Stand and Organic Garden Lecture series offered to the public.

Campus Based Projects - Supports Furman's on-campus living learning laboratories including the biodiesel project, the green room, the Place of Peace, Furman Lake Restoration Project, Recycling and Composting, and the living machine solar aquatic wastewater treating greenhouse in the Townes Center for Science.
