Commencement

March 31, 2003

August 13, 2007

Dear Soon-to-be Graduate:

Congratulations on your achievement!  We hope that our commencement exercises this upcoming Saturday will certainly be a day to celebrate.

Some important items to ensure that nothing will take away from you and your family and friends being fully able to enjoy your day:

  • Secure your regalia.  If you have not already received your cap and gown, contact the Furman University Bookstore in the University Center.

  • Meet in McAlister Auditorium at 4:30PM for rehearsal.  We will let you know what to expect from the commencement ceremony, make a few key announcements, and identify your place in the line of march.  The rehearsal should last roughly 30 minutes.

  • Be at the McAlister Auditorium Lobby, Mezzanine Level no later than 7:30PM to get prepared for tonight’s ceremony.

  • Pay attention and follow directions exactly as you receive them from the staff marshals.

  • A reception honoring the graduates and your families and friends will be held in the McAlister Auditorium immediately following the ceremony.

If you have questions or concerns about commencement activities, please contact Academic Records at (864) 294-2030 or via e-mail:  academic.records@furman.edu.

We are glad we can help make this event a fond memory for you.

Sincerely,

Brad Barron

Associate Dean for Academic Records

& University Registrar
