Connie Carson, a longtime administrator at Wake Forest University who most recently served as assistant vice president of Campus Services and Planning, joined Furman University as vice president for Student Services on February 1, 2008.
The vice president for Student Services at Furman is responsible for creating, maintaining and evaluating services and programs for the university community, including career services, health services, housing, leadership programs, multicultural affairs, psychological counseling, volunteer programs, recreational sports and student activities.
Ms. Carson is a graduate of both North Carolina State University and Wake Forest University. She holds two baccalaureates and a master of education degree from North Carolina State and a master of business administration from Wake Forest. Connie spent one year as an area director at N.C. State before joining the Wake Forest staff in 1986. Ms. Carson served in many roles while at Wake Forest including associate director of Residence Life and Housing and executive director of Residential Services before being named assistant vice president of Campus Services and Planning.
Connie also served on numerous committees at Wake Forest, including the University Crisis Management Team, Presidential Debate Committee, Americans with Disabilities Task Force (co-chair) and University Area Community Relations Advisory Board (chair). She holds memberships in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Association of College and University Housing Officers – International and has served as both vice president and president of the ACUHO-I, as well as president of the ACUHO-I Foundation.
