The Shucker Leadership Institute (SLI) is a two-year program designed to foster the development of emerging student leaders through a guided experience that emphasizes self-exploration, initiative, commitment, collaboration, and experiential learning. SLI inspires students to explore their passions and become catalysts for change. It is named in honor of Furman's former Vice President for Student Services, Dr. Harry B. Shucker.
Each year, 25 freshmen students are chosen to become New Fellows in the Shucker Leadership Institute. SLI's guided process is intended to enhance the college experience and prepare students for a lifetime of meaningful leadership and service.
