We don't divide the academic and residential experiences at Furman. We combine them. With more than 2,700 undergraduates on one of the nation's most beautiful campuses, we have a four-year residency requirement. Our students live and learn in a close-knit community where they can share and collaborate their ideas with classmates and faculty.
As a freshman, you'll be matched with a roommate in one of our freshman residence halls or learning communities. Our detailed questionnaire helps us
match you with someone who has similar interests, a process that has
proved very successful. Not knowing your roommate may seem intimidating
at first, but it's a great way to meet new friends and get involved in

- Review your housing options
Our new students are assigned to one of our first-year residence halls. In your housing assignment request form, you'll have the option to rank which residence hall is your top choice. Our computer-based housing lottery will then randomly assign rooms to our freshman class, taking each student's selections into account. Our system tries to accommodate each request, but we can not guarantee a room assignment due to availability.
- Consider Engaged Living
Engaged Living, Furman's living and learning community for first-year students, is available to students interested in enhancing their education and becoming more involved in our campus community. If you're interested, you'll need to complete the Engaged Living application. Apply for Engaged Living.
