The Staff Advisory Committee was created as a result of input from the staff
survey conducted in the fall of 1998. The Staff Survey/Focus Group Report of
January 31, 2000 contained the following action item directing the creation
of the Staff Advisory Committee.
"A permanent committee made up of staff representing all major areas of the
university will be established to enhance communications between the staff
and administration. This committee will meet quarterly and will convey staff
questions and concerns as well as recommend improvements Staff members who
are interested in being a member of this committee should submit their name
to Susan Zeiger. Nominations for membership are also encouraged."
Staff Advisory Committee Mission Statement
Established in 1998, the Staff Advisory Committee (StaffAC) is an advisory
group of Furman employees representing all major areas of the university.
Employees who do not serve on the faculty or on the Administrative Council
are eligible for membership. Members typically serve two years but have an
option to serve a third year. Committee members select new members after
determining which campus departments need representation and whom in those
departments are willing to serve. StaffAC members volunteer their time with
approval from their immediate supervisors.
StaffAC?s mission is to be an effective ?voice of the staff? with the following
priorities:
- To increase communication between staff and the administration
- To enhance staff morale
- To promote a sense of campus community
- To increase levels of awareness and understanding
