Report a Sexual Assault
The first meeting of the SHARP committee occurred on January 14, 2005. The charge of this committee was to examine four specific areas regarding sexual harassment and rape prevention:
- Education: How should the University better inform students about issues?
- Policies: Which policies in place should be maintained? Should there be new policies?
- Procedures: What procedures need to be followed after an incident?
- Resources: What resources should the University make available?
Today, this committee is comprised of staff, students, and faculty committed to educating our campus community about sexual harassment, sexual assault, and rape and preventing such incidents from occurring. Whatever our level of experience, we will share in the satisfaction of planning programs and special events, creating and reviewing policies and procedures, educating the campus community about resources, and supporting survivors of sexual assault. This committee -- with representatives from student athletics, student government, student media, Greek organizations, Feminist Initiative, Housing & Residence Life, Public Safety, the Counseling Center, the Athletic Department, Student Health Services, Student Life, and the faculty -- represents diverse interests and perspectives working towards common goals.
