The Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership at Furman University presented Carol Coletta, Host and Producer of National Public Radio's "Smart City," the nation's most widely distributed program on Urban America. She made a major presentation at noon on Monday, November 1st in Hartness Pavilion, Furman University on "The Young and the Restless: Where the Best and Brightest Young Americans are Moving and Why", which addressed the issue of where college-educated 25-34 year-olds are moving in America and why.

Smart City has been pioneering innovative strategies to improve cities for 30 years, and her commitment is more than professional. It is personal.

She was one of the first urban pioneers to move into a loft in downtown Memphis where she still lives. Her firm, Coletta & Company Inc., anticipates trends and develops action-oriented public policy. Her award-winning syndicated public radio program, Smart City, showcases her provocative interviews with the worlds smartest thinkers on urban life and opportunities for cities. It is required listening for planners, elected officials, downtown developers, and researchers in several countries.

She has just been named Executive Director of the Mayors' Institute on City Design, a partnership of the American Architectural Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the U.S. Conference of Mayors. The mission of the Institute is to transform cities through design.
