Requesting Academic Transcripts, Enrollment Certifications, or Degree Verifications

Furman University will officially inform interested parties about individual academic records upon appropriate request. The specifics about requesting the release of information appear here for your use. Furman University's student information release policy strictly complies with all federal regulations pursuant to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.

ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPT
A complete record of academic achievement at Furman. The transcript displays dates of attendance, transfer course & advanced placement summaries, degrees awarded, honors designations, cumulative and term grade point averages. It also shows a term-by-term history of courses enrolled, semester hours awarded, and grades earned. The document is typically required for admission to other higher education institutions and should be considered the definitive source of information about academic accomplishment at the University. The academic transcript may only be released with the specific consent of the student. A $5.00 service fee is assessed for the release of each transcript.

ENROLLMENT CERTIFICATION
A standard certification summarizes student enrollment status at Furman showing terms and dates of attendance, academic level (undergraduate, graduate), enrollment status (full-time, part-time), anticipated completion date, and field of study. Enrollment certifications are frequently required by creditors and insurance providers that can be requested by the student or by anyone with a compelling reason to know this information unless specifically prohibited by the student.

Students may request a standard enrollment certification by completing, printing, signing and sending this request. A fee is not charged for this type of self-service.

For anyone else with a compelling reason to know about an individual student's enrollment status, Furman has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide certfications. A nominal fee is charged by the Clearinghouse for this 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-a-week on-line service.

DEGREE VERIFICATION
Degree verifications confirm the degree earned and the date it was conferred, honors designations, field of study, and the date requirements for the degree were completed. Most often required by potential employers, degree verifications can be requested by the student or by anyone with a compelling reason to know this information unless specifically prohibited by the student.

Students may request a standard degree verification by completing, printing, signing and sending this request. A fee is not charged for this type of self-service.

For anyone else with a compelling reason to know about an individual's degree information, Furman has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide verifications. A nominal fee is charged by the Clearinghouse for this 24 hour-a-day, 7 days-a-week on-line service.
