Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., To Speak About 'Our Environmental Destiny' Wednesday Evening
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Environmental champion Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., will speak on the Furman University campus Wednesday, April 16, at 8 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. | Kennedy's lecture, "Our Environmental Destiny," is part of Furman's Earth Day celebration. It is sponsored by the university's Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership, the College Democrats, and the Association of Furman Students. The public is invited to attend.
A steadfast defender of the environment, Kennedy serves as chief prosecuting attorney for the Hudson Riverkeeper, senior attorney for the Natural Resources Defense Council, and is president of the Waterkeeper Alliance. He is also a clinical professor and supervising attorney at the Environmental Litigation Clinic at Pace University School of Law in New York.
Kennedy has successfully prosecuted governments and businesses for polluting the Hudson River and Long Island sound, sued sewage treatment plants for failure to comply with the Clean Water Act, and argued cases to expand citizen access to the shoreline. He also negotiated the New York City Watershed Agreement, which became an international landmark and model for environmental legislation.
The son of the late Senator and U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, he has also worked on several political campaigns, including Edward M. Kenndy's 1980 presidential campaign and Al Gore's in 2000. He has published articles in such national publications as The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Wall Street Journal. His latest book The Riverkeepers, co-written with John Cronin, is a best seller.
A graduate of Harvard University, Kennedy studied at the London School of Economics and received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He also earned a master's degree in environmental law from Pace University School of Law.
