Former U.S. Ambassador James Lilley To Speak On U.S.-China Relations Tonight

James Lilley | GREENVILLE, S.C. - James Lilley, a former U.S. Ambassador to China and Korea under the George H. Bush administration, will deliver two public lectures on the Furman University campus this week.
On Tuesday, April 13 at 8 p.m. in Johns Hall 101, Lilley will speak on "Dealing with the North Koreans: An Inside View."
On Wednesday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Hartness Pavilion, he will speak on "U.S.-China Relations for a New Millennium." Both lectures are free and open to the public.
Lilley's appearance on campus is sponsored by Furman's Richard W. Riley Institute of Government, Politics and Public Leadership.
Lilley served as U.S. ambassador to the People's Republic of China from 1989 to 1991, and to the Republic of Korea from 1986 to 1989. He has also served as director of the Institute of Global Chinese Affairs at the University of Maryland and as a Fellow in the Institute of Politics at Harvard. He is currently a Senior Fellow with the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research.
