Tom Brokaw To Speak On Campus Thursday; Special Post-Debate Analysis Friday Morning
 

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- "NBC Nightly News" anchor Tom Brokaw will speak on the Furman University campus Thursday, Jan. 29 at 11 a.m. in the University Center's Watkins Room.

      Brokaw, who also serves as managing editor of the top-rated "Nightly News," will be speaking to Furman faculty, staff and students in conjunction with the Democratic Presidential Debate being held in Greenville Thursday night.  Brokaw is moderating the debate, which will be televised live from the Peace Center on MSNBC beginning at 7 p.m.

      There will also be a special post-debate analysis Friday, Jan. 30, at 9:30 a.m. in Daniel Recital Hall featuring Emory University professor Merle Black, one of the nation's foremost authorities on Southern politics.  Black is on campus this week as the Richard W. Riley Institute Fellow-in-Residence.

      In addition to Black, the post-debate analysis will include Jim Guth, William R. Kenan, Jr., Professor of Political Science at Furman; Don Aiesi, professor of political science at Furman; Marshall Frady, journalist and Visiting Lecturer and Writer-in-Residence; Danielle Vinson, Associate Professor of Political Science at Furman; and Bud Kellstedt, Visiting Professor at Furman and Professor Emeritus of Political Science at Wheaton College.
